The Truth About Bitcoin’s Mystery Creator

Mysterious Inventor of Bitcoin

Since launching more than a decade ago, Bitcoin has cemented itself as the cryptocurrency market leader. However, we still don’t know the origins of the world’s first decentralized currency. All this time, the inventor of Bitcoin, who uses the pseudonym ‘Satoshi Nakamoto’, has remained shrouded in mystery.

Everything We Know About Satoshi Nakamoto

The mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto is referred to by many as the father of cryptocurrency. In 2008, Nakamoto published a paper that introduced the concept of cryptocurrency to a mass-market audience. While Nakamoto certainly didn’t ‘invent’ cryptocurrency, he solved the one problem holding it back from a practical application – double-spending. It is his innovativeness that allowed cryptocurrency to be non-fungible.

The last time anyone could claim they heard from Satoshi Nakamoto was in 2010. Then, in an email addressed to another developer following the launch of Bitcoin, Nakamoto revealed he would be ‘moving on to other things.’ Unfortunately, Nakamoto never elaborated on exactly what these ‘other things’ were, and nobody has heard from him since.

The Most Likely candidate

Several people have previously claimed to be the mysterious inventor of Bitcoin., while others have been accused by third parties. But, so far, nobody has been able to prove that they or anyone else is the real Satoshi Nakamoto.

Nick Szabo is a scholar of law and computer engineer; these credentials alone make him a likely candidate for the inventor of Bitcoin, but there’s more. Szabo is also the first to imagine Smart Contracts, which are quite popular on the blockchain today. Before Bitcoin ever existed, Nick Szabo had the idea for ‘Bit Gold,’ a digitalized form of gold that would exist online, free of the influence of third parties that control the modern gold market.

Dominic Frisby authored the book ‘Bitcoin: The Future of Money?’ In it, Frisby named Szabo as the creator of Bitcoin. Even Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk believes Szabo to be Nakamoto. Still, the truth is, we may never know who Satoshi Nakamoto really is.
